While driving through Florida, I spotted an active osprey nest resting atop a tall platform right near a parking area. Ospreys are surprisingly comfortable nesting near human activity, but this nesting spot gave me one major problem. Although I could see half of the Osprey, I couldn’t actually see anything in the nest.

So I decided to do the only thing I could think of to get myself up higher, and climbed onto my van and stand there with my tripod and massive camera for an hour until the mother osprey came back to the nest. What I was hoping would have been dinner to the baby instead turned out to be a comically thin piece of twine. Nest building is such an impressive activity, and I often forget how much persistence and diligence goes into its creation.
